Counselling for the Family/Whanau
Although we value independence in Western culture, research clearly indicates that we do not function at our best on our own. We are all a part of a wider system and function optimally as individuals when we are working in harmony with others within our family and/or the social systems that surround us. By discerning 'negative cycles' in our interactions we then have the awareness to break their cycles. Awareness leads to healthy choices and the breaking of unhealthy patterns that may have been dragging you down like a 'hamster on a wheel' for years.
Creating a New Arrangement
Perhaps advice has been given to you to try out family therapy if there is disharmony within your family system. Family therapy is an opportunity for all members of your family to feel safe to air unexpressed issues. This 'breathing space' allows the family system to rearrange itself into a healthier arrangement.
Relationship counselling, also known as marriage or couples counselling, is available for any couple who are in an emotionally committed relationship to each other. It can be beneficial by reducing conflict, developing understanding and respect for one another, and increasing affection and closeness. It not only assists you to grow as a couple but also as an individual, without surrendering your own true needs and desires.
Emotionally Focused Relationship Therapy
I predominantly work out of an EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) framework, the most scientifically proven effective couples therapy framework worldwide. By breaking repetitive negative patterns, new functional and healthy patterns are created allowing couples bonds to strengthen and grow. This becomes an investment for the future as couples model a new way of connecting and communicating for their children and loved ones.
I am available for in person, or online counselling services for you and your family/partner. Read more about online therapy services here, or contact me using the button below.
