The Human Healing Journey
Te Taha Wairua - A Spiritual Lense
There can come a time in our lives when everything seems to hit the fan. Where we have normally been able to manage ourselves, we find ourselves not coping, and acting and feeling out of character, be it that we are facing significant loss or physchological or physical health issues. It is at times like these that we know deep down we are being called to change and ultimately evolve. And in order to do this, we have to shed, unlearn and undo layers of trauma and outdated conditioning that no longer serve us. This kind of experience can be utterly disorientating and earth shattering. It is at such crisis points of a individual's life that mind and heart tend to open up to possibilities and options never before considered.
During times like these, we can take a spiritual lense that sees every individual as having a divine life path and purpose, and when things get too far off track, we can experience a painful wake up call. And because of our pervasive 'suck it up and move on' cultural conditioning, once the lid pops off, with a lifetime of unfinished business to boot, it can feel very emotionally messy and overwhelming, hence the need for support to emerge into what we are actually being called to become. This type of wake up call is ultimately healing us towards living a more consciously-aware and awake life based on truth and integrity, offering us opportunity to live life fully with no regrets. It doesn't feel great when we are in the thick of the messiness of this process but, have faith, for the light will come. |
Ultimately a life led consciously is one that accepts reality as it is, can detect issues as they emerge, and has the perceptual skills to discern truth as different choice points emerge as life unfolds. It is a life led with integrity and authenticity. We learn, as described so eloquently in the serenity prayer, to accept what we cannot change, have the courage to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. As we learn more about ourselves and how to navigate our lives, with increasing integrity, we can begin to feel more at peace inside. As the coping mechanisms to shut out that which we fear also dampen our ability to see and experience what we love, we are more able to see and fully partake in the beauty that surrounds us. We are less afraid of what is hard and have the skills to work through challenges as they come up. We understand that life is the ultimate teacher.
Through this kind of journey we often become more open to spirituality, be that an approach to life and/or practice/s, whatever that looks like for the individual. It is also possible we may find ourselves having a growing capacity for faith and communication with the divine, sacred aspect of the human experience. In Te Ao Māori the spiritual essence of a person is their Mauri (life force). Without Mauri, we lack health so developing faith, whatever faith looks like to the individual, to support you to face the shadow aspects of yourself to declutter and ultimately clean up your psyche, has the capacity to lead you to your truth, your divine life path, and strengthen your life force energy. |
